Starting Ending sophomore year at college with a bang and a whimper, here am I.

I find it hard to describe myself. This made filling out resumes fun, because whenever the question crops up "Why should we hire/accept you?", the only real answer I have is "Why not? I'm me!".

This may not be a stellar recommendation.

I love my friends. I love the state of Texas, where I was born and raised. I have my own strange sort of quiet patriotism. I like to consider myself loyal. I have a penchant for talking a bit too much when I shouldn't and not enough when I should. I'm very friendly, but not very social. It's possible, I swear. I'm blonde, but I'm not a blonde. I write, I read, I have a wide and varying taste in music. Most of it my parents don't like, but I didn't do it on purpose. I'm the textbook middle child. I don't want kids, and I'm very awkward around small children. I think I'd be a terrible parent; maybe it's because I'm still too much of a kid myself. Case in point: I carry a sonic screwdriver in my purse.

I'm a computer person who's completely clueless about computers. I know that I can make them work, but I don't know how I do it or why it works. As long as it does work, I'm not too fussed about the details.

I love music. No, really. I play the guitar, violin, and can pick out a tune on the piano, but I passionately love to sing. It makes me feel better, it makes me cry, it hopefully doesn't make anyone else cry. Some of the defining moments of my life usually involve music. I know what solfege is, and I can use it. I'm teaching my younger sister the guitar. I sightread for fun. I like being on stage and have been known to enjoy my time in the limelight. In short, I'm so artsy and so useless to the world in general that it hurts.

Speaking of useless, I'm a budding history major and a member of the Archaeological Institute of America. This isn't a new development, either, because I was the obnoxious student in high school that really liked doing history reports and droned on about Elizabethan England for upwards of ten minutes, completely oblivious to everyone else's soul-crushing boredom.

I have this journal partly because of my historical-inclined mind and partly because of my writing-inclined mind. Some of my friends read it, but largely, I like airing my opinions and the doings of my mundane days so I can look back on them years later and see how things have or haven't changed. There's nothing terribly profound contained here, except for what a fifteen-year-old considers to be poignant and impacting at the time. My prolific nature demands that I get something down, and this method ensures that I pay attention in class rather than scribble down whatever thoughts strike me at the moment. Who says I can't learn from my mistakes?

I only touched on my love of writing, but it's second only to music in terms of being an integral part of my mental and emotional make up. If you're interested...fanfiction and non-fan-fiction. Knock yourself out. I've got untold amounts of notebooks lying strewn about with many, many half-finished stories; it's another interesting thing to read and compare at how I've grown and matured (and yes, I swear I have). Publishing is a far-flung dream of mine, but not likely to happen any time soon.

Anything else?

Then let's get this party started.

Are you one of many?

GO TRINITY TIGERS! We're so studious and our football team is so mediocre, we don't even have a cheer. Really. If we did it would be something like "Study, Tigers, study! Study til it hurts!"

EDIT: In light of the "Mississippi Miracle" and Trinity Football's upset win as ESPN's Play of the Year vs. Millsaps College, I should no longer refer to our football team as mediocre. That still doesn't change that we're so studious and nerdy here that even our felonies are geeky.
